Names Not Numbers is a Holocaust documentary project directed, filmed and edited by students. In a normal year, the students are given the opportunity to have a one on one conversation with the survivors, however, due to COVID-19, this year’s Names Not Numbers faculty had to figure out a way for the students at GOA to participate in the incredible program. “This year, COVID presented us with some challenges for the Names Not Numbers Holocaust Documentary Film project, but thankfully we were able to find solutions to work around many of them to continue to offer this important program,” Mrs. Sternthal, a Names Not Numbers advisor, said.

Looking back, this year has been far more complex than previous years. Golda Och persevered and proved to be resilient when it comes to tackling the unexpected. Although this year has arrived with its ups and downs, many accomplishments were made and numerous positive outcomes were uncovered. “Throughout the year, the school has adapted their original policies to make them even more effective,” freshman Mimi Lebeau said. “For example, though the staircases were one way at the beginning of the year, they are now two ways. These slight changes help to make learning in-person smoother while still staying safe.” Grace Saperstein ‘22
Since last March, COVID-19 has taken a lot of joy out of many celebrations across the world. This school year has been anything but a normal year but Golda Och Academy has still managed to provide fun and engaging programming. Yom Haatzmaut, which took place this year on April 15, celebrates Israel’s 73 years of independence. GOA was able to find unique ways to incorporate fun into this joyous holiday in school. |
