The Remote Learning Experience

    This past September, Golda Och Academy students returned to the school’s hallways after four long months of learning from home.  We now wear masks, social distance and complete daily health screenings before entering the school. Some students, however, continue to learn remotely by zooming into their classes. The remote learning experience brings both challenges, benefits and new lessons in this uncharted territory.

We Can Do It: How Students Can Prevent Climate Change

    The world is currently facing a massive environmental crisis. Carbon is being emitted into the atmosphere at an alarming rate. This is expected to warm the planet significantly over the two degrees Celsius agreed upon by the Paris Climate Accords. It’s a colossal problem but as a society, the tools to stop it are within reach.

Bigger Than the Game: A New Tefillah Experience

    With Golda Och’s new safety protocols come new experiences, including new options for students to understand Tefillah and Judaism. 
Early in the school year, GOA conducted Tefillah via zoom in all the classrooms. While this was a safe choice, students started to grow restless with the current state. A new Tefillah elective, Bigger than the Game, encourages students to compare the abstract topic of Judaism with the comforting topic of sports.
