A Flame Exclusive GOA sophomore Kelly Lindner has completed her COVID-19 vaccine series, one of the first GOA students to be vaccinated. She shares her vaccine experience with the GOA community in the hopes that she will inspire other students to get the vaccine — a true mitzvah to help keep herself and others healthy! — as more availability and eligibility opens up. Lindner agreed to sign up for the vaccine because she craved the ability to continue her nursing home volunteer work and wanted to make sure her family was safe as well.
“Everyone was excited to be there and it was a really great and memorable experience,” she said about the vaccine center. “It was organized, they asked us a few questions and then they made us go into another line. I had a wonderful nurse, who was only 23-years-old and was excited to be there. After my first shot I didn’t even need a Band-Aid and it was easy.” Lindner reports no side effects at all from her first shot. After her second shot, “I was just tired so I just watched a movie. My arm was a little bit sore, but that’s totally normal, and it wasn’t a big deal at all,” she said. “Mostly I feel grateful and lucky to be able to be a part of that experience so early on.” Lindner encourages all students to get the vaccine if they are able. “Take advantage of it because it’s an amazing thing to be able to receive it! It’s life changing not just for yourself but for everyone else who’s around you.”
