GOA Juniors Practice Mental Health, Wellness

COVID, college and classes, oh my! The GOA class of 2023 certainly has their work cut out for them. With the second semester well underway, our juniors have been finding unique and creative methods of reducing natural stress.

Junior Sophie Fischer was eager to speak about her advanced relaxation methods. “First, I take an apple,” she said, staring at the uneven patch on a nearby wall without blinking. “Then, I take the inside of the apple out of the outside of the apple. After that, there’s only an Apple-Shell. And this is what I use to drench my inhibitions of a lesser tomorrow in their own transgressive ways. This is how I become alive.”
We weren’t sure what she meant, but she was breathing deeply and did not appear to be catatonic! Yasher koach, Sophie.
Boaz Fox also has a unique way of dealing with the pressures of school. “Can you see the lights in my deepest nightmares?” he asked. “Because I definitely can. And they are about to open like the floodgates of Kingdom Come. And when they make themselves known… the world becomes brighter!” Clearly, whatever he’s doing is getting him pumped about his academics! Boaz, you’ve earned yourself a resounding yasher koach.
We reached out to Tali Goldman, but she was busy carving a pentagram into her locker and was thus unavailable to comment. We heard her muttering something under her breath in what we suspect to be Latin. In any case, mazal tov to Tali for learning a language outside of the classroom.
When we calm down and put our minds to the task, we can prepare for events far in the future. Nobody exemplifies this better than Chava Herniter, already hard at work writing next year’s Senior Video.
“In junior year, all work and no play made Jack a dull boy,” writes Chava. “All work and no play made Jack a dull boy. All work and no play made Jack a dull boy. All work and no play made Jack a dull boy.” A huge metsuyan to Chava. Keep on creating!
“All work and no play made Jack a dull boy,” she continues. “All work and no play made Jack a dull boy. All work and no play made Jack a dull boy.”
The past two years have been a period of immense pressure, but trust us; the class of 2023 has it together.
