Performing over 149 different shows in 21 countries, Taylor Swift has overtaken the music industry in just two years with her world tour. The Eras Tour features a diverse setlist that covers Taylor Swift's entire career, from her self-titled debut album to her latest hits.
From the beginning of her tour on March 17th, 2023 to the end on December 8th, 2024, over 4.2 million tickets were sold. Despite many sales, many “Swifties” were left heartbroken that they couldn’t acquire a ticket.
Throughout the tour, Swift performed songs from all ten of her studio albums, allowing fans to experience a wide range of her musical styles. Concert attendees were treated to detailed stage designs and visual displays that enhanced the performance.
Freshman Eloise Goldberg describes her experience as “magical and life-changing,” stating that she will “never forget the incredible night that [she] shared with Taylor.”
Over the past two years, Swift released new music for fans of any age or music taste including: Speak Now(Taylor’s Version), 1989(Taylor’s Version), and The Tortured Poets Department. Undeterred by the immense workload of keeping the tour running, Taylor managed to release a movie that shares the experience of the show with fans who weren't able to experience it live.
In addition to new music, the Eras Tour promoted the release of exclusive merchandise in collaboration with various brands, allowing everyone to find something they can treasure and love.
When the Eras Tour hit Vienna, the CIA discovered that an assault, inspired by the terrorist group ISIS, was planned for that night. The attackers intended to kill tens of thousands of people. Despite the tragedy, Swifties carried on showing their spirit by still participating in normal eras tour traditions, like trading bracelets.
Freshman Anabelle Silva got tickets to the Vienna show and cried tears of happiness. Those quickly turned to tears of misery after realizing she wouldn’t be able to see Taylor Swift perform in person at her awe-inspiring show.
“I just want Taylor to know that we understand it's not her fault,” says Silva. “[Taylor] should never feel guilty in any way.”
The  Eras Tour also highlights Swift’s significant impact on both the entertainment industry and the economy. Earning approximately $13.6 million per performance, her success contributes to the local economies of all the cities in which she performs. Revenue stems from ticket sales, merchandise, and increased business for hotels, restaurants and transportation services in the cities she visits.
Beyond her music career, Taylor is an inspiring influence on girls worldwide. She advocates for women's rights, equality and encourages embracing individuality.
“If you ever feel like you're not good enough, you are. And if you ever feel like you're different, or you're weird, or you don't fit in, you’re doing something right,” Swift proclaimed in her acceptance speech at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards.
As the final shows wrap up, the effect Taylor Swift has made on the world is undeniable. The impact of this tour will likely be felt for years to come, as it highlighted Taylor Swift’s connection with her audience, her evolution as an artist, and created a standard that artists will aspire to achieve.
