The NFL Draft began on April 29. It was seven rounds long and lasted for three days, going through Saturday. The first round was on Thursday, second and third on Friday and fourth through seventh on Saturday. The first pick in the draft belonged to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who had the worst record in the NFL in 2020. They selected Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. This was widely expected to happen, since Lawrence has been the consensus top prospect in the 2021 Draft ever since he won the National Championship as a true freshman in 2018. By Alec Stein ‘23
April 15, 2015 - the end of the worst season in Knicks’ franchise history. Three years since a playoff appearance and seemingly lightyears away from another playoff appearance. On that final day of the season, the Knicks trotted out a lineup of Langston Galloway, Cole Aldrich, Tim Hardaway, Jason Smith and Lance Thomas, three of whom are currently out of the league, and the other two are bench players. Year after year, Knicks superfans such as Spike Lee and Tracy Morgan, along with thousands of Knicks fans across the globe, have been subject to suffering and hopelessness, but this year feels different. After a disappointing, top-heavy 2020 NBA draft class, basketball fans are starving for a new and possibly more exciting set of young athletes to make their mark in the professional basketball world. This year’s incoming class features many versatile, athletic and entertaining players from top college basketball programs. These players include Gonzaga’s shifty, high flying guard Jalen Suggs and Oklahoma State’s lengthy floor general Cade Cunningham. Suggs drained one of the most memorable game-winning buzzer-beaters in March Madness history in the Final Four against UCLA. By Inbar Adiel ‘22
March Madness returned this year following the cancelation of the tournament last year as a result of the breakout of the COVID-19 pandemic, and it did not disappoint. It truly was an exciting roller coaster ride. This year, some major underdogs played excellently. For example, Oral Roberts, a 15 seed, made it to the Sweet 16. They started their journey in the tournament by defeating Ohio State, a two seed, and then later beating Florida, a seven seed, by three points. |
