NBA All-Star Domantas Sabonis has recently converted to Judaism. According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, Rabbi Erez Sherman of Sinai Temple in Los Angeles holds regular Zoom study sessions with Sabonis, a Lithuanian-American who is committed to deepening his understanding of Judaism. The highly anticipated matchup between the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills on January 2nd, 2023 lasted for only one-half of the first quarter due to an on-field emergency. As Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow stepped back in the pocket and threw the ball to Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins, Bills safety Damar Hamlin was injured. Upon being selected ninth overall in the 2020 National Basketball Association (NBA) Draft, Deni Avdija quickly provided Jewish basketball fans worldwide with a feeling of excitement unlike anything before. At just 19 years old, Avdija found himself serving as a symbol of hope not only for the Washington Wizards organization struggling to escape a continuous cycle of mediocrity, but also for an entire Jewish community itching to watch someone of their religion play the game of basketball at the highest level. Phil Mickelson, a three-time Masters Champion, two-time PGA Champion and one-time Open Championship winner, became one of the first famous golfers to join with LIV Golf. A once-loyal member of the PGA Tour, Mickelson has won over 30 PGA events in his accomplished career.
