At 23 years old, poet Amanda Gorman has come into the public eye as an exemplary person and a symbol of hope in the dark times America has endured. Gorman was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her passion for writing began at a very young age.

Giselle Weiss ‘24
Switching high schools, especially in the middle of the year, can be a somewhat nerve-racking experience, but new freshman Jesse Berkowitz is taking the transition in stride and with excitement. The Golda Och community welcomed Berkowitz on Feb. 1, as he joined his fourth-grade sister and his brother, a senior. Berkowitz previously went to Livingston Public High School. Coming from a school with no Judaic courses, he must adjust to the sudden application of Jewish classes in day-to-day life. Grace Saperstein ‘23
This past November, Shirel Benoliel joined the sophomore class at GOA, coming from Netanya, Israel. She is greatly enjoying her time in America and has had many meaningful experiences both here and in Israel. Benoliel’s school in Israel, Kfar Hayarok, is quite different from GOA. Kfar Hayarok is located in Southern Ramat Hasharon, along the border of Tel Aviv-Yafo. The longer school day started at 7:45 a.m. and ended at 4:20 p.m. |
