Over the past year GOA moved mountains to work remotely and create two terrific virtual shows. At long last, students now are able to perform and rehearse together in person, to produce a school-wide Disney-themed cabaret production! Cabarets are a medley of different songs, scenes and dance numbers from different places that when combined, fit into a specific theme or script. Although it was not a standard musical, it has a plot and is certainly entertaining. The finished work will be premiered as a movie for the whole GOA community.

Environmental heroes and advocates have been appearing all throughout the nation during the recent, ever-expanding fight to save the planet. Golda Och Academy sophomore Daniel Shapiro expresses his passion to save the environment and works hard to spread awareness throughout the school. Shapiro joined the school in his freshman year, around the same time he started to become interested in climate action. He has always enjoyed doing biological science-related activities, so once he began to learn about the danger the planet is in, he was immediately invested. Rebecca Altmann ‘24
This March, GOA, along with other schools and teachers, partnered with People’s Prep Charter School in Newark to create a tutoring program in which GOA students tutor People’s Prep students. Mrs. Schenker serves as GOA’s supervisor for the program. “The school reached out to us to see if any students may be interested in getting involved,” Mrs. Schenker said. “Mr. Herskowitz has a contact with the school and thought it would be a good fit.” |
